Anaconda Mining, a TSXlisted gold mining company operating in Atlantic Canada, has developed an innovative, twostage drilling method that enables economic mining of narrowvein deposits, according to Goldcorp. The technology, known as Sustainable Mining by Drilling (SMD), was developed in collaboration with Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Compared to other mining methods, roomandpillar mining is a lowcost method with a low recovery rate (since some ore is left behind in pillars). Yet, the method causes very little dilution as the contact between ore and waste is limited due to the waste being on top and ore being at the bottom.

Most vein modelling and Mineral Resource estimation methods for narrow vein deposits uses three dimensional (3D) block grade estimation, based on kriging and inverse distance weighting. In addition, most modelling packages require the assumption of a constant dip and dip direction for the whole vein.

Narrow vein underground mining. Klondex Mines customised the Maptek Vulcan toolbox, using Lava scripting to create a short term modelling process for narrow vein mining, freeing up time for other work. Klondex Mines Ltd specialises in narrow vein gold and silver deposits.

Narrow Vein Mining Methods and Geologic GradeControl on the JMReef Pd/Pt Deposit. JM Reef PGM Production Pd/Pt (:1) are our primary target elements, hosted as sulfide mineralization Byproducts: rhodium, copper, nickel, gold, silver. Worldwide PGM Production

The mining method selected is determined by the size, shape, orientation and type of orebody to be mined. The orebody can be narrow vein such as a gold mine in the Witwatersrand, the orebody can be massive similar to the Olympic Dam mine, South Australia, or CadiaRidgeway Mine, New South Wales. The width or size of the orebody is determined by ...

thesis is a case study of the Lapa Mine of Agnico Eagle Mines Limited, a gold mining operation situated in the Abitibi region of Quebec. The Lapa orebody is a narrow vein, steeply dipping deposit with varying width, and is extracted with longitudinal retreat mining method.

Narrow Vein Mining. The main objective of the Narrow Vein Mining project is the development, prototyping and optimization of a new technology to facilitate the mining of steeplydipping narrow veins, including the Romeo Juliet Deposit and Deer Cove Deposit, located at the Point Rousse Project.

This web site presents the results of a research project on narrowvein mining lead by Natural Resources Canada from 1999 to 2005. Here you will find, for each mine visited, the information collected on mining methods, challenges and innovative solutions, .

With the inevitable fall in metal prices, it is necessary for Australian mine owners and mining contractors to apply these specialised methods and equipment to make narrow vein mining profitable. FORMAL CITATION: Blunt, J, Ganza, P and Moss, D, 2005. Specialised equipment and mining techniques for narrow vein mining, in Proceedings Ninth

Ahead of IM''s annual focus on narrow vein and low profile mining – to be published in the July issue – editor, Dan Gleeson, spoke with Dustin Angelo, President and Director of Anaconda Mining, to find out, among other things, how SMD can: reduce the cost to extract ore by 50% over conventional underground narrow vein mining techniques ...

The Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy Narrow Vein and Reef 2008 Steve Konieczki _____ Page 7 The drifting option incorporates mining the vein on one side of the sill drive face. The wider section, that may be either the vein or the waste, is resued and mucked before slashing the narrow .

mining (see Table 1). Mining methods for narrow vein deposits are highly selective mining methods and tend to be unproductive, while highly productive mining methods are unselective, and result in an increase in unwanted dilution. Often the adoption of a more highly productive mining method is precluded by the inherent decrease in head grade ...

The underground mining methods we use include room and pillar, narrow vein stoping and largescale mechanised mining. Room and pillar mining is a style of mining where tunnels are driven in a chess board pattern with massive square pillars between them which are gradually cut away as the work proceeds. We use this for mining coal.

It is concluded that blasthole stoping for narrow vein mining is a viable modern method which promises to gain popularity and that emerging fragmentation technology and blasting research can be ...

Paus is going to launch an electricpowered LHD for narrowvein mining at the bauma 2013 trade fair in April—the PFL 12e. The company''s general manager, FranzJosef Paus, pointed out to EMJ that electric LHDs will become increasingly common in narrowvein operations, since they offer a number of advantages over diesel engines.

stopes for narrowvein vertical mining methods Designed specifically for use in narrow vein, steeply dipping ore bodies, quickly generates detailed stope shapes that are traditionally designed manually. Working from a geological block model, the tool automates the process of generating sectional slices through the ore body.

sentation of the Barkers mining method. Barkers drilling and blasting practices The Barkers drill and blast patterns are typical of narrowvein longhole stoping practices. The mining sequence is schematically represented in Fig. 3. The benchmark narrowvein stoping widths proposed in this chapter are based on the blast patterns shown in Fig. 4.

In any discussion of Methods of Underground Mining Comparison, one is repeatedly confronted with the difficulty of dealing with so many variable conditions. It is not an exact science and in the choice of a method each varying factor has a certain weight, which, in many cases, experience alone can determine.

Narrow vein mine design at the Hoyle Pond mine. ... longhole and panel mining methods are employed to excavate the narrow gold bearing structures. .

The Poura Mine in Burkina Faso, West Africa has mined a narrow vein gold deposit using modern open pit and underground mining methods since the early 1980''s. Previous resource estimating practices did not make use of geostatistics. In 1998, a feasibility study was carried out for the remnant ore blocks that consist of pillars and ''lower ...

The mining method must be varied for different specific deposits. In summary, there are three dominant techniques worldwide for mining gentlydipping narrow vein: Longwall mining method: this method is suitable for mining bedding deposit with a dip less than 35°, 34 m thickness and poor roof.
